Tutoring available from 12:00-2:30 PM on Wednesdays

Hello, fellow Drury students. My name is Kevin Chen. I am currently the senior class president, and I am currently taking an Independent Study class.

For my Independent Study class, I have decided to create a tutoring program to help students of all grades. This program will be held on Wednesdays during the asynchronous time. We will be starting this program this Wednesday, October 7th at 12:30-1:30 PM for AP students, and 1:30-2:20 PM will be an open tutoring session for students in grades 7-12. To sign up for tutoring for any Wednesday, fill out TUTORING FORM and a Zoom link will be mailed to you prior to the session. Andrew Callahan will be the Drury staff member (in his role as teaching assistant) monitoring the program and assisting with tutoring.

I decided to create this tutoring program in order to help students who are struggling in class or would like to improve their learning in class. As a student who always is trying to challenge themselves, I know the full extent of how stressful Advanced Placement classes can be when you don’t quite understand what to do. While in school before the pandemic, AP classes were very challenging. Now that we are no longer in the school building every day, AP classes may be more difficult for students no matter their grade level. This program will help relieve some of the stress that is currently being placed on not just AP students, but all students.

I believe that students of all grades should attend this program if they need help. By having students tutor other students, we can learn from and help each other. My goal is to assist you in any way possible so everyone is on the right track toward graduation.

Please fill out the Tutoring Form mentioned above if you plan on attending the tutoring session this Wednesday or any Wednesday in the future.

The Tutoring Form is available above by clicking the title of the news post.

College Planning Webinar - October 20, 2020 7 pm

Please find below the message from Adams Community Bank concerning their annual event. Click the above title link to view the flyer for additional information.

"While we are unable to host our annual College Prep seminar in person this year, we know that now more than ever students are looking for guidance when it comes to the college application process.

Adams Community Bank has teamed up with Dr. Joshua Mendel and Kayla Hollis from MCLA, Kate Heekin from Williams College, Eleanore Velez from BCC, and Ann Marie Mutz from Pittsfield High School to virtually bring this event to the families in our community.

We know there are many questions surrounding college fairs, campus visits, and getting in front of college admissions officers during these times. Students and parents will find this program valuable and informational in regards to the college application process and choosing where to apply. While each college and university will be handling the college application process and campus visits differently, this program will help prepare students with what they can expect to see this year.

Please join us for this free Zoom webinar to help students learn about the college application process – right from local admissions officers! We are hoping that you can share this with your students and their parents via email and post to your school website and social media platforms."

Remote and Hybrid Open House Details September 16-18, 2020

Hi Drury Families!

We had some bumps in the remote road with technology and student logins today, but over 90% of our students were able to engage with their classes on our first day of learning. If students had trouble logging in, or are waiting to hear back on district technology requests, no worries! This week at Drury is all about getting students connected with what they need and beginning their orientation to the Canvas learning platform. The deans of students and support staff were making calls all morning to any student that didn't sign in, just to see if they needed help, and we will continue to reach out and help connect families to technology support until everyone is connected.

This year, we won't be able to have an in-person Open House session at Drury, so I would like to invite you to our virtual Open House sessions this week. Each session will be run as a webinar, with panelists from Drury leadership and support staff sharing information about how Drury will operate this year....
