Dear Parents and Guardians,

We continue to be deeply saddened by the events happening in our country and most recently those that occurred today at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee.

It’s very possible that our students will learn about the shooting. Please know that, if your child has questions or concerns, our school adjustment counselors are ready to assist you and your child. We encourage students to speak with a school adjustment counselor or another trusted adult if they need any help processing what they see and hear on the news.

Additionally, we want to assure you that the safety of our students is our top priority. We regularly review our security measures with our community emergency response agencies to ensure that we are doing everything we can to protect our students and staff. We also urge everyone to speak up if they see or hear anything that could represent a potential threat to school safety. This includes students expressing thoughts or concepts of doing harm to themselves or others.

Throughout this week, our focus will be on the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of our students. Please join us in keeping the Nashville community in our thoughts at this time. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Barbara Malkas

Superintendent of Schools
