Youth Climate Council:
The Healey-Driscoll Administration recently announced the creation of a Youth Climate Council that will advise the Governor and the Office of Climate Innovation and Resilience on climate policy and actions. Interested high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors can now apply to be part of the council, which will meet regularly with Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer. The deadline to apply is Friday, May 19.

The BBEC’s Black Arts Council is thrilled to announce the launch of its Black Arts Council Grant, a funding opportunity designed to support Black youth pursuing their passion for the arts. The Black ArtsCouncil Grant program will award funds to finance the purchase of art supplies and equipment for youth ages 7 - 22 years old. All forms of art are welcome and celebrated including but not limited to music, visual arts, photography, textiles, theatre/performing arts, graphic design, mixed media, and more.
Applications are open to Black youth, and close on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 11:59 PM EST. The grant application is live on Submittable (an online submissions platform that saves your work as you go). Younger applicants (ages 7-14) may complete the application in person with a parent/guardian at the BBEC office on select Sundays between the hours of 10 am - 12 pm. Advanced scheduling is required for in-person applications.

Women's Money Matters will be starting on 4/26. The 12 week program will be held at the UNO Center from 6-7:30 pm. Women's Money Matters helps women regain control of their finances, reduce financial anxiety, increase economic self-sufficiency and transform their lives by teaching core money management skills.
The program is looking for volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering as a coach or presenter in this series, please reach out to Berny Lugo at blugo@womensmoneymatters.org. Training is provided!

BFAIR and Greylock Federal Credit Union have partnered together to raise awareness for National Brain Injury Awareness Month. On Saturday, April 15th from 10am - 1 pm, 150 helmets for youth ages 6-13 and 100 helmets for ages 14+ will be distributed free of charge at the Ashuwillticook Trail Head located at US 7/Rte. 8 Connector Rd, at the Berkshire Mall entrance in Lanesborough.

Representatives from North Adams Public Schools, Hoosac Valley Regional School District, North Adams Police Department, BART Charter School, and the Berkshire Family YMCA have joined efforts to launch a Kid Friendly Food Drive to help families provide meals to students while they are home over April vacation. Donations should be received by April 12th.
On April 1st we will be at the North Adams Walmart from 9am to 2pm to collect donations to kick off the effort. A suggested list of donations is included in the flyers and includes the list of drop off locations.
The focus is on kid friendly foods that they can prepare on their own over the vacation week.




MassHire Berkshire Workforce Board Presents “Working with High School Interns”
The MassHire Berkshire Workforce Board will lead sessions for employers/organizations interested in working with high school interns on the following dates from 9-10:30AM:
· Wednesday April 5, 2023 at the Red Lion Inn, Main St. Stockbridge, MA (rescheduled from March 15)
· Wednesday April 26, 2023 at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), North Adams, MA
· Friday May 12, 2023 at Berkshire Health Systems Hillcrest Campus, 165 Tor Ct. Pittsfield, MA
These identical workshops will provide tips, guidance, and strategies for providing internships to high school students. Sessions open to professionals interested in starting an internship at their company or looking to enhance their current internship program.
